We interviewed a few riders who entered the Discover the Edge of Infinity contest.

State your name, where you're from, and what drew you to the Infinity Roll Contest

Jason Kale I reside in Lancaster, PA not far from York, PA.  I am 44 years old.

I originally thought it was a joke, but  then my wife Bojana wanted to participate and she encouraged me to try it.   I thought someone might be able to do one for about ten minutes, but when i first started seeing how long i could do an Infinity roll I discovered it was much more difficult than i first perceived .  I got to thinking of how a modern Pro Flatland run is often around 3 minutes and thought Wow...im only doing one trick and its so hard to maintain endurance and the ability to not get dizzy.  So it became a personal challenge for fun....

What's a typical riding week like for you?

I try to ride several hours a day every day.  I will skip some days to cross train either on road bike or MTB.  I break up Flatland riding into different spots on different days.  I have smaller spots for more tech riding and larger spots for more what i like to call Classic rolling style.  Some days i specifically practice certain tricks and other days i might just (fidge) aka experiment with ideas and concepts.  Some days i just full bust out, which to me is just running through as many tricks as i can that i have learned and been able to maintain over the years.

Where do you see riding going over the next 2-3 years?

Where id like to see it go and where it is going are 2 different things.  Honestly as a whole id like it to just keep going.  Im super stoked there is an AFA contest series in the Americas to show case flatland although i have not been able to attend events. Its great someone has taken responsibility for there to be cohesion.  As we all Know Flatland in Europe seems to be exploding and people took action for this to occur.     Im really impressed with people Like Jean william and how he presents Flatland as a whole.  The rider owned do it yourself model seams to be the best model out there to help Promote flatland.  As far as tricks go, Id like people to remember that Flatland BMX is freestyle BMX.  You are free to do what ever tricks you can learn but dont have to be a clone.  Obviously the Level of Riding will continue to be mind boggling.  Im particularly impressed with Mateus Beckman and jean williams styles of riding.  Opposite but unique.  I hope people see that one can be unique in their own style and do not have to just copy the guy who wins all the comps.  At the end of the day your riding style is your unique personality expressing itself, I just hope people keep freestylin on a BMX in general.

The current trend seems to be the flat/street style of riding which i see to be a more overall freestyle version of Flatland BMX almost the original style, reincarnated in a more advanced version.  I honestly see Riding going any where your imagination can take it.

How long have you known (or known of) Bryan Huffman and how do you feel about his collection of Purple and Oil Slick stuff?

I believe i first heard of Bryan riding through Kevin Jones and they might have even competed against each other back in the Day.  I believe we crossed paths in early 2000s York Jam.  Much Props to a fellow rider who has been riding as long and as hard as he does, and battles it out with Mathias Dandois at The Denver Fise.   From what i heard about Huff daddy's oil Slick components is they have magically properties much like X-Kryptonite  that gives humans super human powers........haha

Any shout-outs / plugs / words of encouragement?

Shout out to my wifey and the plywoodhoods!!!   As far as words of Encouragement go Just ride and be yourself.   Dont compete with others compete with you!!!!  At the end of the day flatland BMX is a whole lot of Work.  It doesnt happen over night, some tricks can take years to learn but if like anything in life if you are taking steps towards those goals one day you will reach them .  Every trick has baby steps.  If there are days you dont feel like riding ride anyway or youll never learn them.   Have fun riding, you wont be able to do it forever!!!
